ABOUT THIS PRODUCT:

Gram staining is one of the most popular and important procedures in microbiology. Bacterial infections can be deadly to patients if not treated quickly and effectively with antibiotics. Healthcare professionals often use multiple staining techniques to identify the bacteria causing the infection in order to prescribe the best antibiotic to treat the patient. In this experiment, students will utilize different staining techniques to examine morphological characteristics, gram status, and endospore status, of three unknown bacteria.

• Understand gram staining and its medical importance
• Explore bacteria diversity and classification
• Practice slide preparation, cell staining, and microscope observation
• Identify common bacteria based on size, shape, arrangement, gram status, and endospore status
