ABOUT THIS PRODUCT:
Teach fruit fly structure and mutants with our model of Drosophila!
Fruit flies (Drosophila melanogaster) are an important model organism for studying genetics. Much of our understanding of the role genes play in body organization has been learnt from studying genetic mutations in Drosophila. You can show some of these with this model!
First, your students build colorful model of a fruit fly. Then they use the model to look its external features. Finally, they look at different mutations such as white eye, eyeless, antennapedia (leg head mutant), wingless, bithorax and curly wing.
The model shows the major features of an insect including: head, thorax, abdomen, legs, wings, antennae, halteres, compound eyes and more!
Takes just 30 minutes!
Origami Organelles are downloadable paper models that you print and make as many times as you like! When you purchase a model, you are licensed for unlimited use on a single site or campus.
