ABOUT THIS PRODUCT:

In this experiment, students will work to identify several tick species using macroscopic characteristics. Once the species is identified, students will work to extract DNA from the simulated tick species. Finally, students will then use PCR analysis to determine what tick-borne diseases are present in this particular tick population.

• Explore the characteristics of various tick species.
• Extract DNA from simulated tick samples.
• Use PCR to amplify pathogenic DNA within a species.
• Compare PCR band patterns to identify tick borne disease present in a geographic region.
