ABOUT THIS PRODUCT:

Show the bark beetle life cycle with our interactive model!

Bark beetles are insects that help decompose dead trees in forests but they can also be a serious pest. Adult beetles lay their eggs in the inner bark (phloem) which the larvae eat damaging the tree. This is made worse by a blue fungus that the beetles carry that can kill the tree.

• Your students make their colorful model of bark beetles and their bark habitat.
• Utilize the model to visualize the life cycle of a bark beetle.
• View how the beetles cause damage to trees.
• Takes just 20 minutes to build the model!

The model can be used to teach the European spruce bark beetle (Ips typographus) and the North American mountain pine beetle (Dendroctonus ponderosae). It can be used to show an insect life cycle covering metamorphosis.

Origami Organelles are downloadable paper models that you print and make as many times as you like! When you purchase a model, you are licensed for unlimited use on a single site or campus.
