ABOUT THIS PRODUCT:
Teach your class how global patterns of wind form!
Global wind patterns are caused by uneven heating of the Earth by the Sun. The equator gets hotter than the poles. This leads to pressure differences that create wind. Show how this happens with our colorful model!
First, your class make their model of the Earth. Then, they use their model to look at how the Sun heats the Earth and then what winds would be produced if the Earth didn't rotate. Next, they look at how the Earth's rotation affects the winds that are generated.
The model covers uneven heating due to solar radiation, pressure differences in the atmosphere, convection cells (Hadley, Ferrel, Polar), Coriolis effect, trade winds, prevailing westerlies and polar easterlies. Adding different parts allows students to build their understanding of this topic!
Takes about 30 minutes to build the model!
Origami Organelles are downloadable paper models that you print and make as many times as you like! When you purchase a model, you are licensed for unlimited use on a single site or campus.
