  • Web: www.edvotek.com

  • Phone: 1.800.EDVOTEK (1.800.338.6835) Hours: 8AM-5:30PM EST

    Q: How can I obtain Edvotek's W-9 Form?
    A: Please download Edvotek's W-9 form here

Q: Is there a minimum order required?
A: No, you can order as little or as much as you would like!

Q: Are there preferred methods of payment?
A: School Purchase Orders and VISA/Master Card/American Express credit cards are all accepted methods of payment.

Q: My perishable components are not in the box. Why?
A: There can be two explanations for this:
  • (1) Did you order your Edvotek product through a Distributor? If yes, look inside your Edvotek box for the “Shipment ID” coupon. Contact us and we can set up your perishable delivery immediately.
  • (2) Did you place your order over the summer? In this case, we typically hold perishables beginning in late June and ending in early August unless specified differently by the customer. We do this because the perishable items need to be stored according to their instructions immediately following receipt. While schools are on summer hiatus, storage at times does not happen immediately.

Q: Can I future ship my order?
A: Yes, if you call us at 1.800.338.6835, we can schedule your order to arrive when you would like.

Q: Where are the Study Question Answers for my EDVO-Kit Protocol I downloaded from your website?
A: The protocols on our website are available to both students and teachers. Therefore, we withhold the Study Question Answers from the website and instead include a form in your Kit Box with a PDF weblink. This PDF weblink allows you to download the full Instructor’s Protocol from the internet.

Q: Why is there a $50.00 “Wet Ice” charge on my Invoice?
A: A few of our kits require overnight shipping with Wet Ice. This $50.00 surcharge covers the cost of expedited shipping.

Q: What is Edvotek's Employer Identification Number (EIN)?
    A: 52-1541280

  • Shipping

Q: Where does my order originate?
A: All orders are shipped from Washington, DC via EDVOTEK preferred carriers. A shipping, handling and insurance charge is applied to all shipments. Normal delivery time within the US and Puerto Rico is 2-7 business days by ground delivery. Additional fees or surcharges may apply for expedited shipping methods, or for shipments requiring wet or dry ice. International orders are shipped by preferred air services, unless instructed otherwise.

Q: Where do you ship? Do you ship internationally?
A: We ship to all 50 states, as well as all over the world. We have a strong presence within the European Union and routinely ship to such countries as South Korea, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, and Australia for example.

Q: How much is standard Ground shipping?
A: A general rule of thumb is standard Ground shipping will cost 11% of your order subtotal. The minimum charge is $14.99 and the maximum is $149.00.

    Technical

Q: How do I prepare agarose gels for electrophoresis?
A: Please click the link to view our instructional YouTube Video "Preparing an Agarose Gel."

Q: How do I dilute the 50X TAE electrophoresis buffer?
A: Mix 1 part TAE electrophoresis buffer concentrate to 49 parts distilled or deionized water. Example – dilute 30 ml TAE electrophoresis buffer in 1470 ml distilled or deionized water.

Q: Can I run my gels and leave them to sit in buffer overnight and stain the following day?
A: It is best to stain immediately after electrophoresis. If time is an issue, just transfer gels to a more diluted FlashBlue™ solution (1 part FlashBlue™ to 149 parts distilled or deionized water) and cover to prevent evaporation. The DNA/gel will both stain and destain overnight and can be visualized the following day.

Q: The label came off of one of my components. How do I know which component it is?
A: Our kit components have color-coded caps. In most cases, the components will follow this scheme:

  • A - RED
  • B - WHITE
  • C - BLUE
  • D - GREEN
  • E - YELLOW
  • F - PURPLE
  • G - DARK BROWN
  • ORANGE - Practice Gel Loading Solution
  • BLACK - 10x Gel Loading Solution
  • There are exceptions to this rule - contact customer service with any questions.
