Restriction Modification (Methylation) of DNA
Cat. #205

Bacteria that produce restriction enzymes also harbor a related DNA methylase that has identical base recognition sequences. When the recognition sequence is methylated, the restriction enzyme cannot cleave the DNA. In this experiment, the effect of the restriction enzyme on unmethylated and methylated DNA are examined. Reaction products are analyzed by electrophoresis.

Kit includes: instructions, plasmid and chromosomal, Hind III, Eco RI and Eco RI Methylease, Adomet, gel loading solution, UltraSpec-Agarose™ powder, electrophoresis buffer, InstaStain® Methylene Blue and Methylene Blue Plus™ stain, calibrated pipet, 100 ml graduated cylinder and microtipped transfer pipettes.

All you need: electrophoresis tank, power supply, variable micropipet and tips, waterbath, balance and microwave or hot plate.
